The OMA-IMPS (Wireless Village) compatible Instant Messaging and Presence Server by Azetti is a flexible messaging and presence enabler for OMA IMPS capable phones, SIP clients and other presence applications.
In addition to being a stand-alone service, presence also dramatically increases the usage of existing communication services as a communication incentive.
The Azetti Presence Server integrates directly into the IMS architecture as defined by 3GPP, but can also be used outside of the IMS domain. The Azetti IMPS also complies with the Presence server requirements as defined by OMA-PAG.
The Azetti Presence Server supports a modular Network Presence Agent. The modules can receive network presence information from various network components. It is also possible to implement other network presence modules and plug them in, so that presence information can be fetched from other network elements, such as portal platforms.
The Azetti IMPS also contains powerful presence interfaces and APIs, which can be used to share presence information with several applications in addition to messaging. Typical telecom services such as push-to-talk, multi player games and voice-mail services are enhanced by presence information.
The Azetti IMPS is a commanding service enabler for the next-generation presence enabled services. For messaging applications in general, presence is a powerful feature that makes communications more rational. It allows the introduction of Mobile Instant Messaging as an attractive messaging add-on to existing communication services.
For cellular carriers that want to benefit from existing Internet communities, Azetti IMPS offers interfaces to MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ and AOL. Subject to agreements with the service providers, the cellular carriers can offer their customers the use of IMPS clients with their IM service providers, and introduce an event-based billing model for such usage.
The Azetti IMPS offers the cellular carrier full flexibility for defining the IM concept, including billing models and clients. It also includes OMA-OTA interface for user provisioning in IMPS. As with other Azetti products, standard interfaces for provisioning (SOAP), monitoring (SNMP) and billing (Diameter) are all provided.
